Many tips and tricks I implement in my daily life have been the results of tidbits I’ve gotten from videos, courses, or conversations I’ve engaged in, and I’ve been blessed by them.
The other day, I watched a video that admonished younger people to start a business while emphasizing the need to ask God and let Him direct your decisions.
In response, my brain remembered an Instagram story from someone I followed. She talked about keeping a journal where you ask yourself questions and allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and provide answers.
Doing that makes room for God to speak and encourages you to be still.

Merging those two ideas together—a reflective space to consider major life choices and a journal that invites God in—births a habit or system I see myself using for years!
I share this to encourage you to collect ideas.
We get informed every day. Short 140-character tweets, WhatsApp stories, Instagram posts, and the news—but how much of that information impacts our lives? Are they merely passive streams of dopamine or an intentional knowledge hub that inspires you daily?
In my experience, I benefit the least from information when I’m overexposed and not intentional. When I doom-scroll or escape into social media, I get more overwhelmed than helped.
God is as intentional about how you consume content and how that content benefits you as he is about the strand of your hair (Luke 12:7). He speaks to us through what we take in too. We can either invite Him into our knowledge-gathering habit by being deliberate collectors, paying attention to what we put in our minds, as a farmer would nitpick good produce, or shut off the creative force of our minds by being everywhere every time.
Collect ideas.
Not just open yourself to everything, but be purposeful curators. Guard your heart. Keep your mind, and let God lead what you watch, hear, or interact with. Like sparks, at random moments, the deposits of knowledge you’ve amassed will form a creative idea, habit, or system that honors God and improves the quality of your life.
