We all know we are addicted to our phones.
But not many acknowledge it.
Technology has become such an indispensable part of our lives that we make excuses for not having it on us. Staying away from tech has become difficult because, well, we need it to work, accomplish tasks, or get some activity done.
But what if that’s the problem?
The numerous excuses we hold onto, while ignoring how phone addiction creeps into our lives?
Technology is not bad.
But it can be bad.
It is easier for tech to lead you to endless doom-scrolling than for it to help you sleep better.
Can it do both? Yes.
But the design of the apps and tools many electronics run on makes falling into bad habits easier.
Not many people admit this fact.
We keep going on about phones getting addictive. Some recognise the horror and dumb down their phones. But most people? Nap. They leave things just as they are and turn a blind eye to the harm excessive screen time fosters.
It takes acknowledgment to fix a problem.
If we pretend nothing is wrong and ignore important actions that should spur less harmful relationships with our devices, we’ll keep falling into the phone addiction zone, talking about how bad phones have become, and do nothing about it.
